Calvin Patterson, Chairman/CEO
Calvin has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry. As an experienced grant professional, he has provided services to organizations of varying size and scope for more than a decade. Calvin has written and facilitated over $ 10 million in grants and loans from the federal government, state and local governments, and private foundations while serving as Resource Development Manager at Goler Community Development Corporation in Winston-Salem NC.
Calvin is Chairman and CEO of Earnest Harvest, LLC, which he founded in 2005 in order to develop the capacity of nonprofit startup and for profit businesses. His passion for providing customized technical assistance and capacity building support to businesses is supported in his statewide role as a consultant for various North Carolina Community Colleges.
While many hours are spent with larger audiences, Calvin’s unique entrepreneurial spirit is well suited for providing personalized service to established businesses as well as recent entrepreneurs seeking consultation, sustainability assistance, budget guidance, problem solving, and research assistance.
Regarding community involvement, Calvin has served on numerous boards including the Winston Salem Forsyth County Arts Council and Historic Bethabara Park, Inc., in Winston Salem NC. Additionally, he provides free, confidential business counseling services to existing small business owners at the Forsyth Tech Small Business Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Serving as producer/host of a public affairs radio program, “Empowering You” on WSNC FM, which provides a forum to showcase a culturally diverse group of community businesses, people, and institutions, provides Calvin with an opportunity to stay aware of community affairs. The station which is located on the campus of Winston-Salem State University, serves the Piedmont region and is streamed via Internet at wsncradio.org.
